Root canal treatment is performed in an attempt to save a tooth which has become infected due to decay or injury.

Root canal treatment removes the nerve from the inside of the tooth. Root canal treatment is usually very successful and saves the tooth from being extracted however the work can sometimes be very time consuming.

Procedure
  • A hole is drilled in the top of the tooth
  • The inside of the tooth is cleaned out with special chemicals and instruments
  • The canal inside the tooth is filled with a rubber filling material
  • The area is sealed with a filling
  • Occasionally a crown is needed for extra strength and stability
